Anxiety Naturopath Gold Coast
If you have been dealing with anxiety for a while, you probably already know the advice. Exercise more, sleep better, reduce stress. And yet here you are, still not feeling right.
That gap, between knowing what you should do and actually feeling better, is often where something physical is being missed. Poor gut function, nutrient deficiencies, blood sugar instability and disrupted sleep can all keep the nervous system in a heightened state regardless of how much work you are doing on the psychological side.
I’m Danielle Lamb, a fully qualified and accredited naturopath and nutritionist on the Gold Coast with over 12 years of clinical experience. I work with clients dealing with anxiety by investigating the underlying physical picture, including gut function, nutrient status, blood sugar regulation, sleep quality and hormonal health, and building a targeted plan around what I actually find.
I see clients at my Gold Coast clinic, via telehealth across Australia, and in-home on the Gold Coast.
Book an AppointmentAnxiety Symptoms Worth Taking Seriously
Anxiety shows up differently for everyone, but common signs include:
- Uncontrollable restlessness or edginess you cannot shake
- Difficulty switching off thoughts, particularly when lying down to sleep
- Constantly dwelling on problems or worst case scenarios
- Relentless worry that follows you throughout the day
- Avoiding situations like social events or travel
- Fatigue that does not improve with rest
- Poor sleep, racing heart or digestive discomfort
Can a Naturopath Help with Anxiety?
Yes. Naturopathic support works particularly well for people who feel like something physical is contributing to their anxiety, or for those already seeing a GP or psychologist who want the biological side addressed alongside the psychological.
A naturopath does not replace your existing care team. The focus is on the physical and biochemical factors that can amplify anxiety, including nutritional deficiencies, poor gut function, disrupted sleep and chronic stress load. When those factors are addressed, everything else tends to respond better.
Anxiety and Gut Health
Anxiety and gut symptoms frequently arrive together, and there is a physiological reason for that.
The gut and brain communicate directly through the vagus nerve, a pathway that runs between your digestive system and your central nervous system. When gut function is disrupted, those signals travel to the brain and keep the nervous system in a reactive state.
The gut is also responsible for producing around 90% of the body’s serotonin. When digestion is compromised, serotonin production is affected, which has a direct impact on mood and emotional regulation. This is why so many people with IBS, bloating or irregular digestion also struggle with anxiety.
If you are experiencing digestive symptoms alongside anxiety, I look at both together rather than treating them separately. Read more about how I treat digestive disorders and IBS and IBS.
What My Clients Say
Prior to seeing Danielle I was feeling tired, anxious, overweight and experiencing food fatigue. I was confused about what I should be eating and had developed some unhealthy habits. Danielle developed a treatment plan for me to follow which was simple, delicious and easy to follow with her continued support. After working with Danielle my energy levels have increased, my weight and stress has decreased and I eat yummy and nutritious meals. Danielle provides an overall approach to health, including sleep and stress management, and is committed to finding ways to improve your health. Beta Me is a game changer!!
Danielle literally saved my life. I approached her to help when doctors told me that there was nothing wrong with me having done all their regular tests. She challenged the doctors by requesting different bloods, and that’s when they started taking me seriously. I was then diagnosed with IBS by a gastroenterologist. Danielle helped me through the tedious FODMAP diet to find my triggers. I can’t recommend her enough.
How Physical Health Drives Anxiety
Most people focus on the psychological side of anxiety without looking at what is happening physically. In my experience, the two are rarely separate.
Sleep
One of the most direct drivers. When the nervous system is chronically underslept, stress tolerance drops, emotional regulation suffers and anxiety is harder to manage regardless of what else is being done. I look at what is specifically disrupting sleep, whether that is cortisol dysregulation, magnesium depletion or blood sugar drops overnight, and address those as part of the treatment plan.
Nutrition
Plays an equally important role. Blood sugar instability produces symptoms almost identical to anxiety, including a racing heart, shakiness and sudden overwhelm. Key nutrients like magnesium, iron, zinc, B vitamins and vitamin D directly support nervous system function. When these are depleted, the nervous system does not have what it needs to regulate properly.
What to Expect in Your First Anxiety Naturopath Consultation
Your initial appointment runs for 1.5 hours and covers your full health picture, not just your anxiety symptoms.
We go through your anxiety history, sleep patterns, digestive function, diet, energy levels, menstrual health where relevant, current medications and supplements, and any past medical history that is relevant. I may also conduct a Body Impedance Analysis to assess your nutritional status. If you have existing blood test results, bring those along.
By the end of the appointment you leave with a prioritised treatment plan. That means a specific, manageable list of next steps based on what I have found, not a generic protocol. The plan may include dietary changes, meal planning, herbal medicine, targeted supplementation and GP referral for pathology where needed.
Follow-up appointments are 45 minutes and are used to assess what is working, adjust the plan and keep progress moving.
You do not need everything figured out before you book. Showing up with your symptoms is enough to get started.

Help Me Find What's Driving My AnxietyFrequently Asked Questions
Yes. I work with clients on anxiety and antidepressant medication regularly. All herbal prescriptions and supplement recommendations are formulated with your current medications in mind to avoid interactions. I do not recommend stopping or adjusting medication without GP guidance.
Absolutely. Naturopathic support works well alongside psychological care. I address the physical and biochemical side, including nutrition, sleep, gut health and nutrient status, while your psychologist addresses the psychological and behavioural side. The two approaches support each other well.
A nutritionist focuses on food, dietary patterns and meal planning. A naturopath takes a broader clinical approach that also includes herbal medicine, functional testing and a full investigation of physical drivers. I am qualified in both, so consultations draw on whichever approach is most relevant to your situation.
No. Bring any recent results you already have and I will review them as part of the consultation. If further testing would help guide your treatment, I will discuss that with you and explain exactly what we are looking for and why.
It depends on what we are addressing. Some clients notice improvements in sleep and digestive symptoms within two to four weeks. Longer-standing anxiety, significant nutrient depletion or burnout typically takes two to three months of consistent work. I set realistic timelines from the first appointment and adjust the plan at each follow-up based on actual results.
